Approximately 10 1/2 x 13 1/2”. Pyle is posing for sculptor Jo Davidson; a famous image which served as a model for the engraved portrait on the 1971 U.S. Postage stamp. Masking tape along the bottom edge; minor creases and surface cracks; very good. With the photographer’s stamp on the verso, and with a stamp noting its use in Life Magazine in October, 1944. Pyle was killed by enemy fire in the Pacific the following year.
