About This Item
London: Andre Deutsch, 1974. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, showing no marks or wear. The lilac covers are fresh, with light bumps at the top and bottom of the spine, but no other wear. The silver gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is price-clipped, but is otherwise in excellent condition, with very minor wear at the top of the spine. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: One night Andrew, who is visiting his uncle in a small village on the island of Jersey, is woken up by a violent storm. When he went outside to investigate, he saw five great sailing ships being lured to their doom by a bonfire lit by locals. But in the morning, there was no trace of a wreck, no reports of the incident, and everyone assumes he has dreamt the whole incident. Later, though, he meets a mysterious young girl named Maria near the beach, and their friendship helps a ghost to reunite with her father.
