Wrappers a bit sunned and worn; earlier owner's name signed on half-title and final page; trace of curl to corners; minor damp-stain to bottom edge of a few prelims. Good condition. (Mendelssohn II, p. 64) "Olden Times in the Orange Free State. Compiled from the posthumous papers of Mr. H. A. L. Hamelberg, by Dr. Hendrik P. N. Muller. A valuable account of the Free State from its establishment as a Colony to the time of the death of Mr. Hamelberg (1896), formerly Consul-General for the Free State in Holland, and subsequently Member of the Volksraad. There is considerable information respecting the annexation of the Diamond Fields and other historical events in the Republic.
