Ticknor and Fields, Boston, 1863. First Edition, Second Printing. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Fair Condition/None Issued. Size: 12mo. Text body is clean and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is sound. Scattered foxing, but text mostly clean. Edges browned slightly. Brown gilt stamped and blind stamped cloth over boards, the first edition, second printing with the word "mysterious" misspelled on page 145, line 23 and the 21 page catalog at rear; 398 pages, includes a note "To A Friend," Franklin Pierce. Corners and spine ends are bumped with wear, covers rubbed and soiled, front free end paper has been removed, some light scattered foxing throughout, but especially on end papers.
