The first edition of this fascinating work by the Kearton brothers, with striking illustrations from photographs throughout. The first edition of this work.In the publisher's original cloth binding. With illustrations from photographs by Cherry Kearton. With leaves of advertisements to the rear.Richard Kearton was a British naturalist who was is often grouped with his brother, Cherry Kearton, whose photography features in this work throughout. The brothers are considered by many as the world's first professional wildlife photographers, with Cherry having taken the first ever photograph of a bird's nest with eggs in 1892. This is one of the brothers' early collaborative works, with overviews of various rarer species of breeding birds. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart with sunning and a few marks to the boards. Slight rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Offsetting and scattered spotting to the endpapers and frontispiece page. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
