Adventure and sight-seeing in the land of the Aztecs, with picturesque descriptions of the country and the people, and reminiscences of the empire and its downfall. With numerous engravings. Published by subscription only. Marbled paper boards, black leather spine and corners, gilt spine lettering. ; 6" x 8-1/2"; 518 pp; Ex-library (withdrawn) with the usual markings, well-worn, still complete and quite useful as a reading copy -- even one with an interesting past. In front of the book are slips from the Santa Cruz City Free Library, later the Santa Cruz City Free Public Library and still later simply the Santa Cruz Public Library. The covers are well-worn, the binding is cracked in two places at the front (including having the title page partly loose), both hinges remain solid and useful, a fair number of brown stains can be seen on pages though all remains readable, no writing observed within text. .
