Presentation copy, inscribed and dated in the year of publication by the author to William Lippincott on the front flyleaf: "To Billy Lippincott, my favorite Dean, not excepting Dizzy, Priscilla, Inge, Martin, or Bon Voyage. Or Gunga. Sincerely, John O'Hara". Lippincott was the Dean of Students at Princeton University. Thundering bestseller about a highly respected citizen in a small Pennsylvania town who murders his young wife. Octavo. Original burgundy cloth binding, with red and gilt stamping. A near fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with some light edgewear.
