London: Gollancz, 1937. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. THE ARCHIVE COPY. Publisher's black boards with orange-red spine lettering. ARCHIVE COPY stamp to the title page. A near fine copy (foxing to the page block edges and the early/late pages of the book) in like D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine as called for. The D/W is stamped FILE COPY to the front cover with a small number 37 in ink at the top right hand corner of the back panel. Features Asey Mayo, the Codfish Sherlock. "Asey Mayo has left Cape Cod. But not permanently. Fate has lured him to the Berkshires in mid-winter, for no more serious purpose than to win a silly-sounding bet for a friend. Hurrying up by plane from Jamaica in a linen suit and white shoes, he is at once lost in a blizzard, and walks into murder in a snow-bound world" ~ The New York Times.
