About This Item

Boston: Otis, Broaders, and Company, 1839. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good Plus . A very well preserved copy. Original dark blue, blind embossed covers, gilt stamping to spine; very minor wear, spine a shade sunned, gilt lettering still bright, clean text block edges. Tightly bound, covers firmly attached. Former ownership name on front fly leaf, in pencil (Reads: "D. F. Rugg/ Price.05/ Bought/ Oct. 4th 1870"). Title page with small chip to top edge, and has penciled "Hartland, Vermont." Text is free of marking, minor scattered foxing, undulation to the paper but lays flat and not a result of moisture, else bright and clean pages. 416 pages. Frontispiece engraving of the author with original tissue guard. Further details/questions are always welcome. Scans can be made upon request. Note: I do not have volume 2.

Comments: The former owner, D. F. Rugg was a physician from Hartland, Vermont. Coincidently, the author of this book moved to Hartland, VT. in 1775 and practiced medicine there.
