Boston: William D. Ticknor & Co, 1846. Second Edition. Octavo (19cm). Brown blindstamped-cloth, titled in gilt on spine; pale yellow endpapers; [iii]-vi [7]-3774,2pp; 2pp of publisher's ads at rear. Inscribed "Mrs. Yale, From the Author with his best regards. October 1846." A few pages with contemporary pencil marks. Straight and sound, but gently rubbed and spotted, with wear to extremities, internally foxed, lacking rear endpaper: only Very Good.
Longfellow's first major work, a prose collection inspired by his overseas travel. Portions were published in 1833 and 1834, and the complete work in 1835; this is the first Ticknor edition. BAL 12085.
