Slender octavo, paperback, 96 pp., color plane profiles, b/w photos, line drawings, appendices, index. The P-40 was there from Pearl Harbor, all over the Pacific to the Aleutian Islands. Osprey Aircraft of the Aces #55. Tipped-in (glued) inside the front cover are 5 paragraphs of info. on Ace Robert Aschenbrener. On the next p. is a signed b/w photo of him. He flew some 345 combat missions, had 10 kills, won the DSC, DFC (3), & Purple Heart. He is mentioned in the book. Paperback in fine cond.
Synopsis
Carl Molesworth has specialised in producing unit histories for the USAAF fighter groups of the CBI since the 1980s, interviewing surviving veterans from these little-publicised units. This is his third volume for Osprey.
