About This Item
NA. Very Good. Unusual medium of paint over photograph, depicting two major dramatic actresses of the period sitting at tea. What is shown might be from a stage performance, or it might simply be a picture of these two celebrities socializing as themselves. Both women were a part of the Augustine Daly company. Ada Rehan (1859-1916) was born in Ireland as Delia Crehan. She became one of the leading Shakepearian heroine of her day, and she had many successes in other roles, both classic and contemporary. Edith Kingdon (1864-1921) retired from acting when she married George Gould, the son of Robber Baron Jay Gould. Pictorial part of work measures 12 by 16.5 cm.
