About This Item
London: Longmans , 1939. JOSEPH MARY NAGEL JEFFRIES (1880-1960) Palestine: the reality . London: Longmans, Green and Co., 1939. 8° (230 x 150mm). . EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION stating the Arab case for Palestine and denouncing Zionist claims. An author and journalist, Jeffries was a Daily Mail correspondent from 1914 to 1933, serving as a war correspondent in France for the paper during World War I. In 1922, he accompanied Lord Northcliffe to Palestine. It has been suggested that the rarity of this book can be accounted for by the Jewish Agency buying up as much of the stock as possible and destroying it. Very good copy in original cloth with sporadic light foxing. Slight fraying to bottom of spine and top corner. . 1st. Original Cloth. Very Good.
