[Blaxploitation] Pam Grier Coffy Movie Archive of 3 Related Items from the film. American International Pictures, Inc., 1973. This archive includes two U.S. large lobby cards and one vibrant Japanese-edition broadside. Lobby cards measure 10" x 14", the broadside 10" x 7". Coffy was a 1973 American Blaxplotation film centering upon a femme fatale's vengeance against a heroin dealer who birthed her sister's addiction. This film, among others, would help boost Grier's career as a lead Black female femme fatale. Researcher Karen Ross asserts that the film "let black audiences enjoy the sight of heroes kicking the white system and winning even while condemning the violence and recognized the implausibility. It allowed blacks the ultimate escape to cheer on the heroine that fought corruption and crime and then leave the theatre to be blighted by the racism in society." One lobby card captures Grier in a plunge top, bold jewelry, and voluminous hair, alongside co-star Robert Doqui. Doqui sports flashy attire and a large velvet hat with decorated with a feather. Another lobby card captures Doqui as he is captured by rope by the neck. The lobby cards have colorful illustrated margins with bold titlings and a red tagline that boasts "She's the Godmother of them all!". The Japanese broadside is illustrated with a portrait of Grier and other cast members and has English titling on one side. The other side is printed in Japanese, advertising other Blaxploitation classics including SuperFly. A powerful archive, in very good condition.
