Quarto; pp; 412, (ii), ad leaf; Profusely illustrated, many black and white photographs, color plates from watercolors by E. J. Read and Gordon Grant and a folding color map; full black pebbled leather covered paper boards lettered in gilt, marbled end papers. A good or better copy. Wear to extremities, leather separating but still intact. Internally very good. Building the Panama Canal was the greatest engineering feat of all time. From the first French efforts through the American completion, an amazing story. Theodore Roosevelt considered the Canal his greatest achievement.
