London: Privately Printed (by Waterlow & Sons) by the Author of 'Hunting Hawking Shooting', 1930. Limited Facsmile Edition, First Thus. Soft cover. Near Fine. Facsimile, reduced in size but proportioned, of the original illustrations of Henry Thomas Aiken (1784-1851) published by S. and F. Fuller in 1820 on rollers or mounted as a series of drawings. Alken is known for illustrated works on British sport and social manners as 'Jorrock's Jaunts and Jollities': Panorama was the forerunner of Nimrod's 'The Life of a Sportsman'. With a new preface and commentary by C.F.G.R. Schwerdt. Oblong folio, stiff printed wrappers, limited edition #124/400 copies, signed by Schwerdt. 15 colored plates - for a total of 35 pictures - mounted on 5 leaves, with descriptive letterpress facing each page. Original plates destroyed. Covers a tad solied with a few short tears and a small chip. Sheets near fine. Scarce.
