Description:
First edition, first printing. A rare and collectible book, written by Charis Wilson (1914 - 2009), author, model and muse, and Edward Weston (1886-1958), photographer. (They were married between 1939 and 1946, while collaborating on this book, among other things.) The book shows little wear, just a small amount of shelf-wear along the lower edge and a 4 cm tear on page 87, professionally repaired by library conservator many years ago. No dust jacket, but the book is encased in a custom-made museum quality, acid-free, archival box, as shown in photos 1 and 2. The book is signed with an inscription by Wilson, dated 1991. Your purchase will also come with a photograph of the author, also from 1991 (photo #6). The consigner of this book was a close friend of Wilson's. She also has a copy of the book Ruggles of Red Gap, written by Wilson's father, Harry Leon Wilson, which could be purchased in a separate transaction.

Description:
Signed by artist. Jasper Johns has been called the greatest living American Artist. He is associated with Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Dada and pop art. Honors include the National Medal of Art and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His works have sold for the most by any living artist. This is the softcover exhibition catalogue from a 5 city tour (2 in the US) in 1978. Laid in is an invitation to the Members Preview of the exhibition where it mentions that the artist will be present. I really don't know if this is a first edition, I just presume so since this is a short tour. The laid in invitation is photographed with the artists signature page. Jasper Johns has signed and dated on the first free end page (no inscription). The date on the signature corresponds with the date of the Members Preview on the invitation. The book is in near fine condition, the corners are square, and the pages are clean and unmarked.

A fortuitous invitation from Longwood University, Virginia, pairs Robert Pinsky (Poet Laureate 1997-2000) and book artist Karen Kunc.
