About This Item

Sydney: Roger Welch, 1943. First Edition. Photo-illustrated wraps. Near Fine. Illustrated throughout with b&w photographs. Tall 8vo. (Pp. 35.) Pictorial wraps. Loaded with sepia-toned photos. Fine, with a little edge-wear. A stark look at the 1942-43 campaign to reclaim Papua, through wild, jungle terrain including battles at Kokoda, Oivi, Milne Bay, Goodenough Island, Gona and Buna, the latter where US airborne infantry had been flown, resulting in the first time the two nations united in action. As a piece of propaganda, an affirming testament of allied victory over fascist oppressors.
