About This Item
London: Remington and Co., 1880. Cloth. Good. 9" by 6". Various. A fourth edition copy of George Augustus Sala's 'Paris Herself Again' complete in two volumes, with four hundred illustrations by notable illustrators such as Bertali, Cham, Pelcoq and Gill. 'Paris Herself Again' is an exploration of the French capital at the time of the French Exposition. It stands testament to Sala's love for the city, despite the occasion satirical remark about Parisians. Sala's journalism is considered his forte, though 'Paris Herself Again' is widely praised for its literary style. There are two inserts about Paris within Vol I, dated 1925. There is a mispagination to page 328; it is printed as 228. In red cloth bindings with stamping to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Bumped and rubbed to head and tail of spine. Slightly bumped to extremities. Hinges starting. Rear free endpaper is loose to Vol I. Internally generally firmly bound, starting in places. Pages bright and clean, age toned to edges. Contemporary ink annotations and bookplates to both volumes. Mispagination to page 328; printed as 228. Good
