About This Item

London: Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown and Green. Fair with no dust jacket. 1826. First Edition. Hardcover. Dark Grey paper covered boards. Both covers detached and worn to the edges, and the paper to the spine worn and lacking sections - No titling, the title was probably a paper label - now missing. An heraldic Bookplate (Lloyd Fitzwilliams of Cilgwyn) to the front pasetedown/rear of the front cover; no free blank endpaper; half title just reads 'Part III'. The page fore-edges are 'rough cut' and are somewhat discoloured in sections. The text block is, however, generally tight and clean apart from some light foxing spots/patching and a little thumbing/the odd mark to the Title and the first few pages, and occasionally in the body of the book. (vii) + (1) + 502 pp. The contents start at 'Lecture LIII (53) ' and I assume Parts I & 2 would have covered Lectures 1 to 52. The contents include the various parts of the horse - kidneys, the urinary organs, the testes, the penis, the generative organs. On Castration, the Appendages, the Coats or membranes, the Humors. On Vision. Specific Opthalmia, Worm in the Eye, Cerebrum, Nerves, Arteries, Aorta, Veins, liver, stomach. On Fever. On Mange and other Cutaneous Affections. On Grease. On Staggers. On Strangles. On Glanders and Farcy. A copy that could do with a little TLC, but generally in good shape and overall pretty clean and tight. Scarce. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall .
