About This Item
1st ed with extremely scarce promotional wraparound band (a slightly faded yellow) which states on the spine: "read what Ian Fleming says" and on the front of the band it has the Ian Fleming commendation: "The Achilles Affair, Berkeley Mather's first book, was one of the best thrillers of 1959. The Pass Beyond Kashmir takes the author triumphantly over the hump of the 'second book' and into the small category of those adventure writers whose works, I, for one, will in future buy 'sight unseen'." The book itself has some tape marks to the endpapers front and rear and in 3 places on the d/w flaps. The wraparound band is completely intact with a small tape stain on inside flap. No inscriptions. The d/w has price 15s.net and apart from the tape marks and a tiny nick head and tail of spine it is superb. Both Ian Fleming and Erle Stanley Gardner wrote glowing reviews for The Pass Beyond Kashmir, and in fact Ernest Hemingway owned copies of both Mather novels. Mather's other movie credits are on the screenplay of Dr No and he also provided uncredited rewrites of the screenplays for From Russia With Love and Goldfinger. The Pass Beyond Kashmir with the band is a lovely find, with a fantastic Fleming connection. Price includes free DHL courier.
