Originally published in London (in two volumes) by Bentley in 1889.We have only located one copy of another edition, also published by Collier in the "Once a Week Library" (Vol. I, no. 19),1890There are [2] pp. of advertisements at the beginning of the volume, and [8] at the end, all addressed to the female market.The authoress was born Margaret Elizabeth Lindsay, daughter of Alexander William Crawford Lindsay, 25th Earl of Crawford and Balcarres in 1850. She married Lewis Ashhurst Majendie (of Hedingham Castle, Essex--a lawyer and Member of Parliament who died in 1885). She died in January 1912
