Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1869. 1st. HB. Green cloth, gilt lettering on spine and gilt design of young girl on front cover, 12 mo., xlix introduction, 9-201 pp. Part of the 3 volume series "Patty Gray's Journey to the Cotton Islands" intended for young girls. Dall (1822-1912) was an important writer on women's suffrage, influenced at an early age by the lectures of Margaret Fuller. Covers show edge wear, corners bumped and worn through to boards, spine top and bottom shows chipping with minor loss. Dark brown end papers, hinges starting to crack. No marks in text, binding solid. Old book sellers stamp on front paste-down.
