About This Item

1840 1ed Magazine of BOTANY Paxton Flowers Color Illustrated Plants Seeds RARE

Joseph Paxton was a 19th-century English gardener who is best-remembered for cultivating the banana in the Western world. In 1834, Paxton began publishing a botanical periodical – the 'Magazine of Botany' – in which Paxton and other writers provided in depth research, discussions, and information on all types of plants. And while the descriptions themselves and thorough, the full-page, color illustrations make the volumes from this work one of the most desirable botany works from the first half of the 19th-century.

This particular volume contains 48 exquisite hand-colored engravings of plants, flowers, and leaves!
