Per Acknowledgments page, this historical novel was in the planning state for over forty years and the research took 12 to 15 years. It is based on historical and historical events. Some of the events happened, and some could have happened.

This is the story of the Shannon family - split between North and South in the border state of Missouri. It's a struggle to find peace within the family and build a new life upon their return home.
