New York: J. Tiebout & Sons, 1817. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo, [2], vii, [1], 161, [1] pages. In Very Good minus condition. Rebound (20th-century) in brown cloth with black label and gilt lettering to spine. Boards show very light wear to corners and some faint discoloration to front cover. Text block has light plus age toning and foxing to edges, a very faint water stain impacting bottom-third of pages 16 - 55, and a 2-inch square damp stain in the top-third of the title page through page 6. A former owner's signature appears on the title page, as does a faded library stamp. Shelved case 7. A scarce American printing of key documents of the French Revolution, compiled by Dutch feminist pamphleteer Maria Aletta Hulshoff. This publication includes the first American printing of the 1793 French Constitution. Hulshoff went into voluntary exile in New York in 1811 after facing political persecution for her pacifist views, and remained in the United States until 1820. 1354289. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
