About This Item
London: Oxford University Press, 1961. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, with no marks or wear. The green covers are fresh, with just a touch of wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket, which has been protected in a plastic cover, is in excellent condition, with fresh colours and very little wear. A very nice copy. Synopsis: The last of the "Penny" series. "She is seventeen now and in her final year at The Meadows School. Being a Prefect is fun but it is also a serious business, especially with rebellious juniors like Vivienne Starkie to be curbed; and when, later in the year, Penny is chosen by 'Craney-Boo' to be Head Girl, she finds still greater problems confronting her: her new position brings trouble and criticism from her best friend Lydia; her speech before the Governors on Parents' Day has to be faced; and then there is the mystery of the 'hermit' in Pollard's wood.
