A rare and richly illustrated promotional booklet covering the thriving communities in St. Francis and Bird City, Kansas and touting the opportunities awaiting prospective settlers.
It begins with an overview of Cheyenne County and its history, covering the County's natural resources, land, industries, water supply, the "underflow" watering the western prairies, noted companies, climate, wheat (a staple crop), stock raising, the sugar beet industry, broom corn, religious institutions, schools, "representative citizens" (H. B. Bear and E. E. Kite), and sketches of Bird City and St. Francis. Its many illustrations picture stores, farms and ranches, pharmacies, street scenes, shops, interior views of homes, feed yards, noted individuals, banks, etc. Included is a fold-out panoramic view of St. Francis and vicinity, taken from the roof of the court house.
