About This Item
St. Louis: Irvin R. Barrows, 1975. Rare proto-zine of pseudoscience, all five issues of this perpetual motion journal which issued its first four numbers (as well as the PERPETUAL MOTION HANDBOOK) under the editorship of Barrows. An included 1974 subscriber's sheet offers the journal for sale ("Excellent for a retired man [...] Probably no good as an investment") and the final undated (1975?) number appears under Dutta's editorship. A 1976 letter is also included detailing delays in publication. Neither the work of a crank nor a tongue-in-cheek send-up, PMJ published articles and studies on the topic of free energy from a number of contemporary practitioners. OCLC notes only a single run (at MiU).
