Barrie's renowned Peter Pan novel, illustrated throughout with Arthur Rackham's original colour plates. 'Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens' is one of Barrie's four major works containing the beloved and popular character Peter Pan.Most of the text in this work originally appeared Barrie's 1902 novel 'The Little White Bird' in chapters 13 to 18.Illustrated with decorative endpapers, a colour frontispiece, and fifteen colour plates. Collated, complete.Illustrated by Arthur Rackham.Undated, dated from the adverts to the rear, with a recent title being 'Dear Brutus'.Prior owner's gift inscription to the verso of the front endpaper, dated January 1918. Two of the in-text engravings have been hand-coloured by a prior owner.Two pages of adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is a little faded. Only a few light marks to the boards. Light rubbing to the joints. Very small tear to the head of the rear joint. Hinges are a little strained. Internally, binding is a little strained in places, five plates are detached but present. Pages are lightly age-toned and spotted. Two of the in-text engravings have been hand-coloured by a prior owner. Good
