Copyright 1942, published by J. B. Lippincott (NY). Stated "Third Printing" on the front, inside flap of the jacket and "Third Impression" the copyright page. The basis of the classic 1944 film noir classic directed by Robert Siodmak. Dust jacket has $2.00 printed on the front, inside flap. Jacket has significant nicks, chips, and tears along the edges. Hardcover has heavy spine lean and shows light wear along the corners and edges. Crack at page 208-209. Floating spine back strip. Orange publisher's stain on the top-edge of the textblock. Previous owner's name on the front free endpaper; no other writing. Overall, it is in Good Plus (G+) condition.
