Paris: Georges Crès et Cie, 1919. Paperback. Fine. Paris, Georges Crès et Cie, 1919 (first thus). Octavo, xxiv, 222 pages with numerous pictorial head-pieces and ornaments by Ciolkowski (engraved on wood by G. Aubert), plus a portrait of Racine and an engraved frontispiece (after an anonymous 17th century engraver). In a contemporary fine binding of half brown morocco and marbled boards, retaining the original wrappers (with the spine mounted on a guard at the rear); spine tooled in gilt; top edge gilt, others uncut; covers a trifle rubbed; a few leaves a little browned at the edges from the turn-ins; essentially a fine copy. Number 701 of a total edition of 1700 copies, this being one of 1650 copies on 'vélin de Rives' paper (numbered 51-1700). The fifth title in the Le Théâtre d'Art series.
