The first edition of this Anthony Trollope novel, following the life of central character 'Phineas Finn' and examining Victorian era politics. The two volume first edition in book form of this work, which initially appeared serially in St Paul's Magazine. Sadleir, Trollope, 30.'Phineas Finn' deals with the British parliamentary politics of the 1860s - including discussions of voting reform - and Finn's romances with women of fortune, which would secure his financial future.  Illustrated with twenty plates after John Everett Millais, each retaining their original tissue guard. Collated, complete.This was the second work in Trollope's Parliamentary series of novels. Rebacked, in full calf bindings, with original boards restored. Rear board of volume II detached, with front joints starting and boards tenderly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, but with spotting and light handling marks throughout both volumes. Good Only
