b+w 8x10 Photo of Adlai Stevenson in front of micophone with Pan Am Logo behind. c.1960. Rubber stamped on reverse "Please Credit Pan American World Airways System, Atlantic Division, International Airport, NY." Stevenson was nominated for President on the third ballot at the July 21-26, 1952 Democratic National Convention held in Chicago's International Amphitheatre. He lost the November 4, 1952 election to the Republican candidate, popular World War II general Dwight D. Eisenhower by 442-89 Electoral Votes (39-9 states. Four years later, Stevenson was renominated on the first ballot at the August 13-17, 1956 Democratic National Convention, again held in Chicago's International Amphitheatre. The results of the November 6, 1956 election were basically the same. President Eisenhower was reelected, defeating Stevenson 457-73 electoral votes (41-seven states). Stevenson later served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (1961-1965), where he displayed his eloquence and wit to the world, especially in confrontations with the Soviet Ambassador. Unframed.
