About This Item
Hartford, Connecticut: James Thrall Soby, 1934. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. First edition, with the fictitious second edition statement on the copyright page. Tall quarto, bound in a luxurious solid (heavy) black Niger goatskin leather, austere gold title "Man Ray" stamped to spine, date at the bottom of spine, two simple gold lines at the top and bottom of the spine. Beautiful ink and gold endpapers with a dreamy Rorschach test quality. Original paper wraps preserved in order. Book and contents near fine. Heavy full black cloth slipcase. with some minor general wear., no splits or bumps This is a very pleasing alternative to the flimsy plastic spiral spine that was original to the book. Really a nice treatment of this classic. Roth 80; Auer 210
