BASIC 160 -"The value of publishing the treatise in English is less in the light it sheds on the border question than in the enormous wealth of data it presents on the history of Texas. ..included in his report literally thousands of documents relating to Texas many no longer exist...with the addition of Hackett's superb annotations, the treatise provides us with one of the fundamental resources on the early history of Texas. Hackett himself worked fifteen years translating and editing the Pichardo treatise." RADER 2664 WAGNER - Spanish SW p.114-115 -"wrote an elaborate essay on Quivira in which he went over all the known expeditions into the plains country to see if he could locate it and came to the conclusion that the place it was intended to represent was in the vicinity of the silver mines on the San Saba river...and sets forth all that was known on the subject relating to expeditions to the Jumano Indians in the 17th century. Pichardo loacted these Indians on the headwaters of the Nueces."
