Early editions of Pictures of Life & Character by John Leech in half calf bindings. This collection includes early editions of the first and second series. Complete with ninety four pages of illustrations and text to the first series and ninety six pages of illustrations and text to the second series. Collated, complete. John Leech was an English caricaturist and illustrator best known for his work in Punch, which these collections exhibit. In half calf binding and paper covered boards. Externally, fair. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities resulting in some rubbing and loss to the leather. There is spotting and age toning to the boards. Internally, binding loose. The pages are worn with some large tears to the extremities particularly to the first few pages of both volumes, and worse for the first series where there is also a large tear to the title page. The pages are generally bright and clean with spotting throughout. All pages are present. Fair
