About This Item
This excellent English author who penned The Cruel Sea, The Tribe That Lost Its Head, The Story of Ester Costello, etc. once again gives us another beautifully written novel with a tragic undercurrent. Moving expertly from Cape Town to New York, to the Barbados and back to Cape Town, Mr. Monsarrat studies the corrupting influence of wealth and fame on this ill-assorted couple - on Kate Marais, a brilliantly successful young Afrikaner and on Jonathan Steele, an idealistic, impecunious young writer from England. A very good read! A bright clean book in an illustrated price-intact dust jacket.
