[16], 740; 488 pp. Bound in a new polished half-calf leather with marbled paper covered boards; raised bands, blind rules and a black leather gilt lettered label. Engraved portrait of the author faces the printed title page. Extra engraved title pages for each part are lacking. Printed title page with lower corner paper loss and older blank paper repair. Imprint date lost but conforms in all respects to the 2nd edition. Engraved portrait with old ink stains and doodles. Final two leaves with mild marginal loss; some mild worming in the final 200 or so pages. Here and there margins trimmed tight with occasional impingement of the headline. Some minor marks, blemishes and reading wear commensurate with age. Solid and clean in the main. [WingD1506A] About VG thus .
