Clean and unmarked throughout, the boards a touch rubbed at the corners, a very faint water spot to the middle of the front cover (barely visible), and the spine a little unevenly toned, with neat Japanese tissue repair. An excellent copy.

New York: Coward - McCann, Inc.. Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket. 1929. First American Edition. Hardcover. Oblong illustrated boards. Copyright information and date of 1929 to the front pastedown. Light wear along the upper and lower board edges. A tiny split to one lower corner. Little other wear. Without names or bookplate. The dust jacket has a matching corner tear of less than 1/4" and another tear of 3/4" to the lower, front at the spine. Each of these tears have been repaired to the verso with clear tape. To the lower, rear there is some abrasion and a small amount of missing color. The book is very good+ in a very good jacket. Original price of $1.50 to the front flap. ; Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall .

Oblong large 8vo, pp. 28, with 26 full-page colour illustrations and two of script; decorated endpapers; slight offsetting from endpapers to first and last page; original decorated paper boards, with the original dust-wrapper, short tear to front of dust-wrapper, otherwise a clean and bright copy.
William Nicholson final children's book ^gThe Pirate Twins^g was conceived whilst completing the illustrations for Sassoon's ^gThe Memoirs of a Fox Hunting Man^g.
'The idea for the ^gPirate Twins^g came from a pair of plain black socks owned by Nicholson which had been bought in Paris but never worn. When she was in her teens, Nicholson's daughter Nancy made these socks up into a pair of stocking dolls; a pattern was stencilled on their vests, and they were given leather belts, necklaces of yellow buttons and cutlasses made of card. Years later, Nicholson conceived the idea of making these twin dolls the central characters in a story dedicated to Nancy and his youngest daughter Liza which Faber eventually… Read More

Full page color illustrations on every page by Nicholson. In the original dust jacket with price of $1.50 present. 1/'4" closed tear at top edge of jacket and some light chipping to the edges of the jacket. Edges of boards lightly rubbed. Rare in this condition.
