About This Item
New York: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1903. This is an about very good hardcover copy in red cloth covers ruled and decorated in gilt. Covers clean, spine a bit darkened, gilt title and decoration not as bright as the front cover title. Very clean inside. This copy bears a previous owner name and date of January 26th, 1903, on the front endpaper. As the copyright page states the date of publication of February 1903, this is apparently a pre-publication copy. Issue points correct. Tiny stains to top page edge (not foxing). 8" high X 5" wide, 421 pages. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good.
Synopsis
This classic literary critique of turn-of-the-century capitalism in the United States reveals Norris's powerful story of an obsessed trader intent on cornering the wheat market and the consequences of his unchecked greed.
