No marks in texxt. The translator Fraccaroli (1849-1918 ) was an Italian classical philologist , Greek scholar , translator and academic. Gifted with a lively temperament, he was frequently at the center of heated controversies centered on the meaning and method of philological studies. A pupil wrote of him that "he cultivated his studies, and above all Greek literature, with the fervent soul of an artist, as desired by the tendencies of his spirit, the family traditions, the energies of his native Verona". In fact, he deepened the study of Greek authors with limited attention to the technical aspects (metrics, language, textual criticism ), but with an eye to the aesthetic values ​​of the work. This methodological approach put Fraccaroli in direct conflict with the Florentine school, headed by Girolamo Vitelli , which made the rigor of the German scientific method its point of reference.
