Philadelphia: A. Hart, Late Carey & Hart, 1851. 1 vols. 8vo. Original red cloth, elaborately tooled and decorated in blind and gilt, all edges gilt, possibly a "gift binding" by Ducomb & Collins, Binders with their stamp in the blind rules of the covers, some rubbing and soiling, generally light, small chips from head of spine, pages 11-16 following Contents and preceding poems are not present, pages 149-152 duplicated and pages 161-164 are not present, apparently all binder's mistakes. Signature of Emily Henriques dated July 1853 on endpaper, a few of her pencilled notes in margins. 1 vols. 8vo. A beautiful production and excellent example of mid-nineteenth century American bindings. Includes the poem "To a Musquito" the "offspring of the gods"
