New York: Random House, (1947). First American edition, this copy inscribed, signed, & dated in ink by Spender at the half-title page. Octavo (9.5" x 6"), 60 pp. Publisher's decorated paper over boards backed in gilt-lettered black cloth, in printed dust jacket.
Covers lightly browned at the upper margins, modest offsetting, foxing, & toning mostly at endpapers & pastedowns, occasional minor handling marks, otherwise very good in browned & foxed dust jacket, rubbed at the fold along the spine, with edge wear including nicks & small losses, still good or better.
Spender's seventh book of poetry, this dedicated to sister-in-law Margaret Spender who died on Christmas day, 1945
