About This Item
New York: C.S. Francis & Co, 1850. Hardcover. Very good. An early and rather scarce American edition, published during the poet's lifetime, with an introduction by Henry T. Tuckerman. Octavo, two volumes with the publisher's ads at the rear in each. Original brown cloth bindings, with decorative blind stamping and gilt titles. The period embossed stamp of Seth Warner of Easthampton, Massachusetts appears on each half-title, with his ink signature to each front flyleaf. A prefatory blank and the rear flyleaf in the second volume have been excised; the bindings are quite sound. A bit of wear to the corners and tips, with some shallow loss to the spine heads; else very good. Barnes E2.
