The publication of this collection made her one of the most popular writers of England. This collection includes 'A Drama of Exile', 'A Vision of Poets', 'The Seraphim', 'The Poet's Vow', 'The Romaunt of Margaret', 'Lady Geraldine's Courtship', 'The Cry of the Human', 'Casa Guidi Windows', and more. Browning published her first adult collection of poetry in 1838, and, once entering into the literary society in the 1840s, wrote prolifically, particularly between 1841 and 1844. Her output of poetry put her in league and rivalry with Tennyson as a candidate for Poet Laureate. Her poetry inspired the likes of Edgar Allan Poe and Emily Dickson, as well as attracting the writer Robert Browning, who she later married. The couple owned a dog, Flush, who was later immortalised by Virginia Woolf in her novel 'Flush'.Browning is best remembered today for 'Aurora Leigh', which was published in 1856.Bookplate of Catharine Elizabeth Stokes to the front paste downs.
