Boston: James Munroe and Company, 1847. 8vo, original glazed yellow boards, later closely matching renewed paper spine and paper title label. 4 pp. of ads (dated Jan. 1, 1847), 251 pp. Poems handwritten by an early owner in ink on front and rear endpapers. CONDITION: Good, lightly soiled, two small ink spots on rear cover. First American edition, second issue. While the four-page publisher's catalogue, dated 1 January 1847, appears in all copies of the first issue, Myerson notes that it appears in some copies of the second issue as well, as here. He also states that the first three printings within the first edition "cannot be distinguished." Myerson A 18.2 a, binding A; BAL 5211.
