About This Item
New Directions, 1942. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Hardcover, full teal paper-covered boards in matching dust jacket, 9" x 6", 25 pp., plus colophon and series list. Chip to top rear corner of jacket, which also shows moderate toning at spine and edges. Ownership inscription of Wesley Wehr, May 1950. Wehr was a noted paleontologist and artist in the Northwest School of art. In 1950, however, he was studying composition at the University of Washington, and although he showed an aptitude for music at an early age, he only published one composition. There are musical notations in pencil to about half of the free rear endpaper, one ink scribble at dedication page, else a very nice copy of this important early work by John Berryman.
