Rockland Editions, 1939. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 231 pages. From an edition of 925 copies "printed for Rockland Editions at the Spiral Press," New York, Sept. 1939. Edited and with an Introduction and Notes by Thomas H. Johnson. The intro includes a Foreword and two essays: one biographical and the other on Taylor's poetry. The notes include a glossary, notes to this edition, account and index of Taylor's library, description of the manuscript of "Poetical Works," and a bibliography. The poetry is divided into sections: Gods Determinations, Five Poems, and Sacramental Meditations. Royal 8vo (6-1/2" x 10"), brown boards with beige coarse-wove quarter, paper title label on the spine, top edge is trimmed, other edges rough-cut; soil to boards, corners bumped and frayed, spine rubbed with a few strands of the quarter-binding coming unwoven; edges, end papers and page margins age-toned, with a darker tan stain to front end papers; three pages very slightly creased (dog-eared) at top. Handwritten note on the limitation page identifies this as a "Review Copy." Bookstore pricing and notations in pencil on rear pastedown, along with a small sticker from Newbegin's bookstore in San Francisco, which would have been where former owner Prof. Warner Berthoff acquired the book. His name and the date November 1945 written on ffep. Pages are unmarked.
