Octavo. 4 volumes; Vol. 1: pp. lv, 366, frontispiece photo-intaglio portrait + 3 plates and 1 line drawing; Vol 2: pp. viii, 573, frontispiece portrait + 1 facsimile writing; Vol. 3: pp. ix, 387, frontispiece photo-intaglio portrait + 2 folding plates and 1 line drawing; Vol. 4: pp. viii, 423, 425-493 unopened, (includes Addenda and General Index), 5 - publ. adverts., frontispiece portriat + 1 plate. Volume 5 is the supplement, 1890. Bound in publisher's attractive gilt decorated navy-blue buckram. The outside hinges are rubbed in a few spots, split in the buckram of front hinge volume 3, all volumes with chipping and light wear to the spine ends, larger chip to the buckram to the spine foot of volume 1. Corners bumped and just general light wear overall, but sill a clean and attractive set. Complete, with the supplemental fifth volume. From the library of Canadian Psychiatrist Richard Maurice Bucke, his bookplate to the first 4 volumes, and inscribed to Bucke from H. Buxton Forman in the fifth volume.
